This morning, Davide Botta underwent tests at the Mapei Sport Research Centre. The young Veloclub Mendrisio cyclist returned yesterday from the Trek-Segafredo training camp in the Alps. We took the opportunity to hear how it went:

“ It was a wonderful experience that certainly helped me a lot. The days were very unusual, our training was divided into two blocks on both Saturday and Sunday, and all the athletes there were in different physical conditions, so the training was aimed at confirming the tests that had previously been carried out at the Mapei Sport Centre, as were the two races we took part in. Those assessing us didn’t just consider whether or not we won the races but they evaluated our performance both during the race and in training, to confirm the conclusions that had already been drawnBut the thing that most struck me was that we were treated like true professionals.

The fact that I wasn’t chosen as a trainee definitely hasn’t ruled anything out for me. In fact, I’ll be watched continuously in the upcoming seasons and then, later on, when I reach a certain level of maturity (I was the youngest of everyone at the training camp), I’ll be reconsidered. For now, I am just happy to have had this experience, I didn’t even expect to be chosen, it came as a great surprise.”

We wish the best of luck to Davide for next season and for the promising future that awaits him.
